For those of you who know me and my love for all things Gossip Girl (especially Chuck Bass and his flaring nostrils) will understand that I was especially excited to meet a very young hotel mogul myself! When watching this unrealistic yet juicy teen drama, I couldn't help but think "what 18 year old is allowed to run an upscale NYC hotel?" do these writers think the viewers can be that foolish? I just happened to stumble upon a suave 19 year old hotelier of my own today, which made me think that dreams really do come true.
Today marked day one of my fashion internship. The first task I was assigned on this bright and early Monday morning, was to assist my boss at an afternoon meeting to discuss the potential expansion and collaboration of his company with a brand new upscale loft hotel opening in one of downtown Montreal's trendiest areas.
I got an exclusive tour and preview of this amazing space which is surely going to be a locale for all of the rich and famous who live in, and will visit Montreal. I got to hold a clipboard and a pen under one arm and with manicured fingers and a Starbucks in the other hand I felt somehow ...like I had made it. Okay- I felt like if I were to bat my eyelashes and smile enough that perhaps I could gain some good visibility in the hotel industry.
Additionally, I also learned that I will have the opportunity this week to attend the styling session of a D-list, infamous sports star who once dawned a woman's wedding dress just for the fun of it.
All in all, day one was quite the adventure. I feel fortunate to have a boss who lets me come with him to meetings and invites me on impromptu trips to visit the New York office.
Who knows, maybe next week I'll be writing my blog a la Carrie Bradshaw on the corner of 5th avenue, latte in hand.

What to do...what to do?
When life gives you internship possibilities....grab one! I learned this quickly, being amongst 100 other fashion marketing students searching for great internships in the Montreal area. An internship for those of you who are not completely sure, means " A student or a recent graduate undergoing supervised practical training." For me, an internship will be a creative outlet to unleash all of my Marketing skills and to assist my boss with his fast-growing company. It will let me expand my thoughts about the industry and apply the knowledge I have accumulated over the last two years. It will possibly open crucial doors to my pending future. So, join me on my fashion journey as I will be filling you in on all the trials and tribulations of working for a company that deals with vintage fashion and big celebs- what better combination could an eager fashion major wish for?!
